Chinese Mythology


Hey everybody! Welcome back to Raisa's Mythological Creature Blog! Today I will be telling you about 10 Mythological Creatures from Chinese Mythology!



The first creature for today is the Chinese Dragon. Dragons are a symbol of good luck in China. They are also a sign of intense power. The Chinese got so obsessed with these animals that even the Emperor of China used it to symbolise his power and strength.













Next up is Pixiu. These creatures can swallow anything without letting it out. Because of this it is a symbol of bringing wealth from every direction. In China, it is believed to be a bit of a 'Fierce Beast'. 



Baize is another Chinese mythological creature. It is a white creature and it lives in the Kunlun Mountain range. Some people believe that they can speak the language of humans.



Fei Lien is the next creature for today. He is the Chinese god of the wind and he has three different animals within him: a winged dragon, the head of a deer and the tail of a snake. Some myths say that Fei Lien (sometimes called Fei Lian) carries wind in a bag and causes trouble.



The next animal on today's list is a creature that has hooves, a Qi Lin.  This mythical beast is known in many Asian cultures, including Chinese. Some East Asian people believe that this creature brings good omens like serenity and prosperity.



Xie Zhi is another legendary creature. This beast looks like a cross between a dragon and a lion. It is also found in Korea, but its name is different. In Korea, it is called Hae Tae. 



The next amazing creature on our list is Tao Tie. This is one of the nine sons of the first dragon. There are many myths about this flying animal. One of the most popular ones is that the creature spends most of his time in the kitchen creating soups.


Qing Niao is the next super cool animal for today. It is a bird that flies around and brings messages to the queen. Her name is Xi Wangmu, and she is the queen of the immortals. The Qing Niao bring any news to the queen. Some people believe that this bird is in various colours, including blue, green and white.




The second last creature for today is Jing Wei. This is a bird that was transformed from a human when they fell into the water. The creature is sometimes called Jing bae. Some myths about Jing Wei say that she wants to fill up  the sea, so she throws a rock into the sea and never stops until it is full.





Finally, we have Ba She. This creature is a giant snake that could eat up elephants. The origins from its name came from two Chinese characters. Ba means 'to be near' and she means 'snake'. The name sometimes translates to 'Pakistan snake'.
